ONRC FALL MEETING
Thank you to the more than 100 people who attended the ONRC meeting in Brantford. What a great opportunity this was to network with Vincentians from across the province, tour the Brantford SSVP Store, attend great workshops, hear from guest speakers, and a chance to meet our new National Council President, Claude Bedard from Comox BC.
Workshop presentations can be found at http://members.ssvp.on.ca/en/workshop39.php and photos can be seen at http://members.ssvp.on.ca/en/index.php. Minutes will be posted under the “Members” section when available.
Vincentians with more than 30 years of service were recognized. If you did not previously provide names to me of Vincentians who have been members for more than 30 years, please email these names to linda@ssvp.on.ca so they can be recognized at a future meeting.
SOCIAL JUSTICE & ADVOCACY
Please add your voice regarding the proposed cuts to the transition child benefit scheduled to be implemented November 1, 2019. You can open the PDF document to learn more about the issue and go to the link where you can follow the prompts to generate a letter to the MP in your postal code area. It will only take a few minutes of your time to lend your voice to this very important topic. Contact corry@ssvp.on.ca or jim@ssvp.on.ca should you have questions.
WORLD DAY OF THE POOR
Pope Francis has declared the Third World Day of the Poor to be November 17, 2019.
Promotional materials have been created by National Council of Canada to be used by Conferences, Councils and SSVP Stores to help raise awareness of the World Day of the Poor Campaign.
ONRC has created an information sheet describing images of poverty that can be printed and shared.
We encourage and would love to see every Conference, Council and Store do something in recognition of World Day of the Poor Campaign.
ANNUAL REPORTS
National Council is working on changes to the annual report forms which will be shared in November. Stay tuned for more information as well as the due dates for the 2019 annual reports.
