President's July Report(posted: July 10, 2018)Dear Brother and Sister Vincentians,
Conference Presidents, please be sure to share this monthly news with all your members to keep everyone connected with what is happening at the Ontario Regional and National level. Conference Presidents and members, please feel free to email linda@ssvp.on.ca with any questions or comments. Particular and Central Council Presidents, please share this monthly news with your Vincentian members who may not belong to a Conference, and please email questions or comments to linda@ssvp.on.ca. Thank you. SPIRITUAL MATTERS The July spiritual reflection is a chance for us to reflect on “Communicating Christ” to all. Please remember to pray our Prayer for Vocations to the Vincentian Family at all your meetings praying for an increase in membership. You can print and attach to your Opening/Closing Prayer. This prayer was mentioned at the National AGA and will be posted on the National website, as well as shared with all Regional Presidents to be shared with members across Canada. WORKSHOPS ON THE ROAD After being asked by members, some workshops offered at the ONRC spring 2018 and fall 2017 meetings will now be taken on the road. If you would like to request one of these workshops to be shared at one of your upcoming Central or Particular Council meetings, please contact linda@ssvp.on.ca. Workshops from Fall 2017 meeting in Bowmanville:
There was a CBC news story regarding the two sea containers packed in Ottawa to be shipped to share with our friends in Rankin Inlet . St. Catharines had their two sea containers painted by students from St. Francis Catholic Secondary School, to be shipped to Nuujaat YOUTH NEWS The Youth recently had their Sleep out for Poverty and On the Street project in London . Sophia Mutuc, ONRC Youth Representative, attended the 2nd Annual Youth International Meeting held in Salamanca, Spain in June. There were 115 young people and Sophia was able to connect with youth from other countries to hear stories of how they recruit and involve youth. NATIONAL AGA It was great to see about 90 people from Ontario in attendance at the National AGA and 240 people attending from across Canada. There was a lot of great information provided, and a summary will be shared with you next week. For those of you who attended, I trust you will be sharing the information received with your Council and Conference members. When we attend these meetings and workshops, it is important that information is then taken back and shared with your Conferences and Councils. I have received communication that two translation headsets are missing. If you were at the National AGA, please check your bag in case you inadvertently forgot to return the headset and email linda@ssvp.on.ca if you have a headset so we can return it. These headsets are very expensive and we want to locate them. BEST PRACTICES Be sure to check out some Best Practices shared by Halton PC: Dental Toolkit Fundraising Toolkit Should you have a best practice document or project to share with our Vincentian members, please send to linda@ssvp.on.ca. Thank you for your ongoing passion, dedication and commitment to helping our friends in need! Linda Dollard, President President's MessagePresident's July Report
