He is Risen. He is truly Risen

He is Risen. He is truly Risen

Easter Day has finally arrived. It is such a great event that we celebrate for 50 days. By doing so, we allow this great event to touch us and bring us great joy. Jesus rose from the tomb and in doing so He has given us, who believe in Him, hope that we too will rise to new life.

Easter is a time that encourages us to reflect on the goodness of God. As we move into spring, life is renewed. All of nature comes alive, flowers bloom, birds are chirping, the grass is turning green, and leaves are beginning to appear on the trees. There are signs of new life all around us.

Even in our spiritual lives, we are called to new life, to a renewed spiritual life. This life never ends. It exists because Christ rose from the dead.

As we reflect on the Risen Christ throughout this Easter Season, we can see the many large and small ways we are being called to transformation in our own lives. These include spending time in God’s word and loving one another even more.

As Vincentian, we can think about how our own personal transformation translates to the good of others and those we serve. The kindness, love and hope we extend to our neighbours in need could just be the encounter that makes a real difference in their lives. As St. Vincent de Paul said, “I will always welcome joyfully any opportunity that comes my way to be of service to you.” We too must take the same position.

This Easter Season, may we find compassion and hope in the least likely of places. As the joyful hope of Easter resonates within us, may we become loving witnesses of the Risen Christ to those we serve.

We are called to be transformed by the joy of Easter. In Christ’s Resurrection, we see how good triumphs and all creation is made new. This lights a light within us that brings about a state of joy that we share with others. This joy powers our work as Vincentians.

May the Lord walk with us in this Easter Season as we continue to build the kingdom here on earth.
