Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

Act of Consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary

On March 25, 2022, the Feast of the Annunciation, Pope Francis asked the world to join him in prayer. He prayed an act of consecration to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. With him we consecrated ourselves, the church and all humanity, especially the Ukraine and Russia to her Immaculate Heart. We prayed that war may end and peace spread throughout the world. In confidence we pray that peace will dawn once more. With this prayer we all consecrate the future of the whole human family. This includes the needs and expectations of every people. We lay our anxieties and hopes at the feet of our Mother. We pray that peace return. We ask Mary to restore upon us the harmony that comes from God.

Mary said at the wedding feast of Cana, “They have no wine”. It is true again today. We have run out of wine of hope. Joy is hidden to us in many ways. We are to be brothers and sisters to each other in many ways, that cannot be seen.

We need the help and guidance of our Mother to turn our hearts back, to stroke our brow, to hug and caress and kiss us. At every meeting of our Society, we pray the Hail Mary prayer. In doing so we recognize her as being without sin. We acknowledge her as the mother of our saviour. We ask her to intercede for us always, to pray for us to her Son, everyday and especially when we die. Through this act we come to Mary in her title Mother of God and as our own loving mother.

We have been asked by SSVP International to conclude all meetings with a special prayer for those suffering in the Ukraine and for a speedy end to hostilities. Pray for the victims of violence and injustice everywhere. Perhaps we can add this prayer:

Hail, Holy Queen, Mother of Mercy, our life, our sweetness and our hope! To thee do we cry, poor banished children of Eve. To thee do we send up our sighs, mourning and weeping in this valley of tears. Turn, then, O most gracious Advocate, thine eyes of mercy toward us, and after this, our exile, show unto us the blessed fruit of thy womb, Jesus. O clement, O loving, O sweet Virgin Mary. Pray for us, O holy Mother of God. That we may be made worthy of the promises of Christ. Amen
