Store Committee Report for 2021

Committee Name: Stores Committee
Committee Chair:Sue Mazziotti-Armitage
Committee Members: All Store Managers and
Particular Councils

Mandate:  Our Stores are the face of our Society.  To show the importance of stores as a first contact of our “friends in need”.   To unite all Managers and encourage them to take part in aspects of the Society.  Getting Managers and Store Committees working in the best interest of the Society.

Meetings:  There are Regional Managers Meetings (There is 4 regions)  We have Managers meeting at all AGM’s and AGA’s.  Managers are encouraged to attend and ONRC has paid for Regional Chairs to attend these meetings.

What accomplishments/successes has the program had in the one-year period from January 1 to December 31, 2021

-Covid-19 continues to close our stores down and limit capacity upon reopening.  We are still having monthly zoom managers meeting.
-We are still adding to our working document on a strategy for when stores are open and closed.  Requirements change and are changing with every variant.
-We shared our document with other stores across Canada.
-ONRC helped with some of the costs of moving a huge donation of sanitizer from Montreal to our stores across the province.
-We have connected with our colleges in Ireland, UK, Australia and U.S.A., to share information on stores and the pandemic.
-We have been able even with a lock down to help stores that have been struggling even bringing back a retired manager to help with transition.

What opportunities are there to focus on this fiscal year?

-As Covid continues to be part of our daily life we will continue to work together monthly to keep up to date with changes to remain open and safe.
-We need to continue to be support for each other.
-Continue to share and gain information from our stores across Canada and Globally.

What challenges has the program encountered in the past year?

-Learning to deal with the changing landscape of a lockdown
-Making sure we were all doing everything possible to keep staff, volunteers and customers safe
-Staying on top of all the changing Public Health Guidelines

How will we deal with these challenges this fiscal year?

-We will continue to come together over zoom to meet and share information
-We are hoping that AGM’s and AGA’s will start again therefore allowing us to gather and meet face to face again.
