There is a time for everything..

(May 1 2021)

There is a time for everything..

There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens:
a time to be born and a time to die,
a time to plant and a time to uproot,
a time to kill and a time to heal,
a time to tear down and a time to build,
a time to weep and a time to laugh,
a time to mourn and a time to dance,
a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,
a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,
a time to search and a time to give up,
a time to keep and a time to throw away,
a time to tear and a time to mend,
a time to be silent and a time to speak,
a time to love and a time to hate,
a time for war and a time for peace.
What do workers gain from their toil? I have seen the burden God has laid on the human race. He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end. I know that there is nothing better for people than to be happy and to do good while they live.
(Eccelsiastes 3: 1-12 NIV)

Congratulations to the Vincentians newly elected to lead our Ontario Region! May God grant you the graces you need to live this, your time in leadership: Omar, Shelley, Rob, Pegg, Dan, Ann, Sue, Terry, and Gary. For those who are retiring after serving on the current executive, may God bless you for your service and guide you to the next phase of your life as a Vincentian.

In SSVP Spiritual Advisors at every level serve at the invitation of the President which means that my term as Spirituality Chair for ONRC and Spiritual Advisor for the ONRC Executive will end effective July 1 2021. I will hand over the portfolio to my successor with mixed feelings. It’s been a beautiful experience. I have met so many God-filled people and learned so much. Writing these messages and the reflection materials for meetings has been a favourite pastime for me. As a firm believer in term limits within SSVP I am ready to give my ‘job’ to the next person, someone with fresh ideas and a clear, new voice. Whoever you are, I am here for you.

Yet it is not quite the time for goodbyes. I still have a couple of monthly messages to write and share. With God’s inspiration there will be another message from me next month.

May God bless us and those we serve,
Denise
